Quality function deployment (QFD) is a useful tool for identifying a project topic, called a critical-to-quality, in the early stage of a six sigma project. In this talk, we first review the limitations of the existing QFD framework, and then present some recent extensions from the methodological perspective to enhance its usefulness in practice. In particular, the validation of the information contained in a house of quality chart and the effective use of the collected information will be discussed.
